CRAFTING TOMORROW'S CLASSICS.
To maintain eye contact during conversation, the chandelier should never obstruct the view. A precise rule is to subtract 12 inches from the width of your table to get the maximum fixture diameter. For example, a 48-inch wide table should have a chandelier no wider than 36 inches. This ensures a clear "sightline corridor" for guests sitting across from each other.
Glare is a major issue in dining rooms. The bottom of the chandelier should hang 30 to 34 inches above the table surface. At this height, the light source is typically hidden from the direct line of sight when you are seated, preventing uncomfortable glare in your eyes while still illuminating the plate.
Not if you choose the right profile. For smaller rooms or lower ceilings (under 8.5 feet), opt for a linear chandelier or a low-profile bowl design. These shapes provide ample light without dropping too low or visually weighing down the room. Avoid tall, tiered fixtures that eat up vertical space.
Standard LEDs often have a CRI of 70-80, which can make food look dull or grey. For a luxury dining experience, choose a chandelier with a CRI of 90 or higher. High CRI lighting accurately renders colors, making red meat look juicy, greens vibrant, and bread crusts golden brown. This is the secret to a 5-star restaurant feel at home.
It depends on your priority. Open-crystal chandeliers offer maximum sparkle and drama but can sometimes cause glare. Shaded chandeliers (fabric or glass shades pointing up or down) diffuse light softly, eliminating glare completely and providing a more relaxed, intimate atmosphere. For families with young children, shades also protect little eyes from direct bulb brightness.
We recommend using a spray-and-leave chandelier cleaner. Simply spray the solution onto the crystals while the fixture is off and cool. The cleaner evaporates, leaving the crystals sparkling without wiping. This prevents fingerprints and avoids the risk of breaking delicate crystals during manual cleaning. Always turn off the power at the breaker before cleaning.
